Get to know what our Service Unit offers and participate and/or host an event.
Bridging in Tierrasanta is held for all troops moving up to the next level in girl scouts. Troops are called up to the stage and cross “the Bridge” as their name is called. Leader and co-leader are present to call girls names and place their new vest/sash. The leaders give flowers to the new level Girl Scout. Silver Award and Gold Award recipients share their work and give a short description of their project.
Daisy Day is an activity designed for your daisy girl scouts to participate in, usually held in November. It is hosted by Junior Girl Scouts at one of our local venues, like Tierrasanta Lutheran Church or Kumeyaay Elementary. Daisies explore a theme picked by the Junior girl scout team and then the fun begins. Themes have included super hero’s, board games, fun in the sun and zoo animals. Look forward to receiving your Daisy Day Patch for participating.
Father-Daughter Dinner Dance is hosted by Girl Scout Troop 3278. The event is open to any girl (they don't have to be Scouts) who would like to attend with their father or any special adult male in their lives. Girls from kindergarten to high school attend this event. The theme of the dance changes yearly and tickets include live DJ, catered dinner/dessert, prize baskets, patch, and a photo to take home. We usually hold the dance mid-May at Crespi/Wiener Hall at De Portola Middle School on a Friday from 6:00pm-9:30pm.
G.I.R.L. (Go Getter, Innovator, Risk Taker, Leader) is looking for 9th and 10th grade Girl Scouts. An opportunity to stand up, speak up, and take the lead is never far away. Discover all you can be and everything you can accomplish when you have the right tools and a safe space to shine — and work together to change the world. This team will get to plan four events for Junior High through High School Scouts in the coming year.
Plans include a movie night and a ski outing to Big Bear.
Junior Encampment is for girl scouts in 3rd - 5th grades. They are invited to join your hosts, 6th grade Cadettes, for a weekend of camping Girl Scout Style! Depending on your venue, the girls may be sleeping in tents, tepees, or stagecoaches. Past venues include Indian Hill Campground and Fiesta Island. Junior Encampment is the next level up for your brownie/junior girl scouts to experience camping Girl Scout Style!! Zip-lining and archery have been past favorite activities for the girls to participate in. Let’s Camp, Lets Tent and Lets Cook training series is required for the troop leader or camp mom to take before taking your girls on this amazing adventure. Your Service Unit will provide info regarding these trainings. Or see link below.

Mommy and Me is a long standing tradition where Kindergarten through 3rd grade Girl Scouts and their moms spend a special overnight at one of the Girl Scout San Diego properties. High school Girl Scouts (with leader input) coordinate and the run the weekend complete with games, hikes, crafts, skits, songs, and camp activities. The weekend is full of surprises that always has a special animal theme and is a great introduction to the joys and benefits of scouting for all age levels. All meals are provided and campers enjoy cabin-style camping with bunk beds (and heat). It’s not a troop event, but troop friends are grouped together. It’s a great opportunity for girls and their moms to bond together in meaningful ways. You don’t want to miss it!
Patriot’s Day Parade is a way to show your support for Tierrasanta Girl Scouts. Come and march in the parade with your fellow girl scouts. Sing songs, make banners, and hand out GS items along the way. The parade meets at the Serra HS parking lot and walks along Tierrasanta Blvd to the Library.
PJ Bingo is an activity for your daisy, and brownie girl scouts. Come and enjoy a night of bingo, songs, and snacks dressed in your PJ’s. This event is hosted by Cadette girl scouts. A few fun-filled hours of bingo during the later hours of the day into the early evening, i.e. 6-7:30. All girls have the option of wearing jammies. The attendees can also take blankets or sleeping bags to sit on. During the event, the hosting girls also lead songs. The event is started with the Girls Scout Promise, and the event ends with the make New Friends song. Snacks can also be provided (optional). Look forward to receiving you PJ Bingo Patch for participating. Usually held in early Spring.
Popper Party is held in November, after Halloween. We encourage girl scouts to save their old and extra Halloween candy and toilet paper rolls as we use the TP rolls to fill with candy. We wrap the rolls in Christmas paper and send them off to Saint Vincent DePaul for children to open on Christmas. We have wrapped as many as 4000 rolls of candy!!! The event is held at one of the schools where the girls are in for an evening of wrapping poppers, singing Christmas songs and sipping hot chocolate.
