Special Whatchamacallits Affectionately Pinned Somewhere or Share With A Pal

SWAPS are a Girl Scout craft in which girls trade with each other to promote friendship. When girls swap their pins, they make new friends and that is what girl scouting is all about!

General rules to swapping with other girl scouts and how the SWAPS are made from WittyLiving.com:

1.) SWAPS should always be handmade. Swapping Girl Scout patches is not the same thing as making and giving a SWAPS. When you make a special whatchamecallit for girl scouts you are putting a bit of you into the craft. In that way you are sharing a piece of you and offering your friendship to those you are giving it to.

2.) It should have a pin to be the official type of SWAPS, but swapping friendship bracelets and other non pin items is still great fun.

3.) Always give a SWAPS when someone asks you for one, even if they don't have anything to trade. That person may need the friendship you have to give.

4.) If you want to show off swaps that you have collected, pin it to your hat or bandanna. For swaps you want to give, pin it to a t-shirt or keep it in a box or baggie that you can show to others.

5.) SWAPS should not be made of quickly decomposable items like food items or real flowers.

6.) When making a tag, do not use your full name or your address. Your first name and troop number is enough information for trading.

7.) Be creative, girls can come up with all kinds of ideas to make fun pinned swaps.
